Editing help
There are two ways of adding things like links in your text. Firstly highlight your text and click on the relevent button at the top of the edit section. If you can do that, you can ignore much of my babblings. The second way is to follow my instructions below. There is a bewildering array of colourful buttons at the top, I'm sure some are there for a joke. I don't know how to use the following yet and don't see the point: 1) W with a line through it for non-wiki formatting, surely that happens by default?! 2) Mathematical symbols, I hereby ban it from this site as it is about chickens so why use mathematical symbols? 3) Signature, looks like squiggly writing, but it tried to create a link and I don't know how to use it! 4) Media link file (looks like trumpet rather comically). 5) Level 2 headline-where is level 1? I don't get it!
How do I edit?
At the top of each page is a section called edit (!) which will allow you to edit any page except the main page/homepage, preview your changes and add your changes to the site (save page). The buttons to do this are just at the bottom of what you have written. If you click on "+" on the homepage it will allow you to add comments about about it. Clicking on "edit" allows you to edit previous comments.
You can edit individual sections by clicking on the "edit" link above the relevent section.
Some text can not be edited, so if you can't edit it that may be why! We have some control over what is written so that we can reject non-constructive comments and I can keep some of the sections I have written and are fiercely protective over!
How do I add new menus?
1)If you edit a whole page (see above) that already has menus then it will probably make sense. You use the "=" symbol either side of the text you want to have in the menu. Th=ere is a hierarchy (kind of pecking order!) of menus. One "=" is the biggest menu, you then add two "==" to make the first sub menu, then three "===" to create a sub menu in that. -Menu1- --Submenu-- ---Submenu of submenu--- now replace - with =, I used - so that it wouldn't work
How do I add a line across the page?
Press the button that looks like a line. This button disturbs me(!) When you roll the mouse over it it says "use sparingly." Why would this need to regulated, and who wants to regulate ruled lines anyway? I would suggest you go wild and crazy and draw lots of lines whenever you want in defiance-if you dare.....!
Bold or Italic text
Select text and use the buttons that look like a "B" and slopey "I" for bold/italic respectively.
How do I add links to a website?
two ways: 1) You add square brackets [[]] before and after your http://www.madeupwebsite, or a link How do I add links? on the page you are working on - again if you [edit] a page that already has it then it will probably make sense. To write text to click on, paste the link, leave a space, write your text, then add the square brackets. ie. ((link text)) now replace (( with [[, I used (( so it wouldn't actually work N.B. you need to write "http" at the beginning. 2) You type the link, highlight it and click the button that looks like a globe. It adds the brackets for you.
How do I add internal links?
1) Add square brackets [[]] either side of your text as with website links. 2) Highlight text and click on the button that looks like "Ab" underlined.
